Sentence
with the intransitive verb has only a subject and a verb.
The
subject is the person or thing that is doing the action.
Example

Transitive Verbs
A
sentence with the transitive verb has a subject, a verb and a direct object.
A direct
object is the (noun phrase or pronoun) person or thing that is acted upon by
the subject.
Example
1.Mark is
writing a letter.(Mark is subject writing is verb letter is object)
2.David is eating a sandwich.
3.Kittu is walking on the road.
How to
find a direct object
Say the
subject verb followed by the question “what”? or “whom”?
The
answer is the direct object -> the verb is transitive
If there
is no answer, there is no direct object -> the verb is intransitive
Example
David is
eating a sandwich
David is
eating what? or whom?
Sandwich
is a direct object therefore eating is transitive
Mark is
sleeping.
Mark is
sleeping what? or whom?
No answer
there is no direct object therefore sleeping is Intransitive
Intransitive Verbs

An
intransitive verb often describes physical behavior or moment.
Example
1.Jain is laughing.
2.Sahara is walking.
3.The door is opened.
Prepositional
phrases or adverbial phrases are often after an intransitive verb
1.Sara is walking to the office.
2.The door opened slowly.
